Abstract

The Reno Friends Meeting formed in 1961 and was officially incorporated in 1969. The group is dedicated to the facilitation of Quaker worship in Reno, Nevada as well as pursuing social concerns of interest to the Friends. The collection contains Reno Friends meeting minutes, correspondence, flyers, brochures related to Quakerism and other social issues, infomration on the Friends boarding school (active ini the 1960s), and Pacific Yearly Meeting materials.

Abstract Husband and wife William Taussig Scott (1916-1999) and Ann Herbert Scott (1929-2018) lived in Reno, Nevada, between 1961-1995. William taught physics and philosophy of science at the University of Nevada, Reno, from 1961-1981 and conducted research in cloud physics at the Desert Research Institute from 1965-1975.
