William Seth Bliss (1865-1941) was born in Gold Hill, Nevada to Elizabeth and Duane Bliss. In 1888, he graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and, after, returned to Nevada to work in the family business. The collection contains one book survey book owned by William Seth Bliss containing information about land grades, likely for railroads.
The Carson and Colorado Railroad was incorporated in May 1880 to service the growing Mining Companies of the west Central Nevada and nearby California. Collection contains organizational papers, correspondence, land related documents, financial statements between 1880-1916. Bound volumes include accounts, waybills, freight and tonnage records and train registers.
Letter to Yerington discusses politics and mining in and around Candelaria, Nevada, French and English copper syndicates, and the price of copper. May informs Yerington that if prices hold the copper properties along the Carson and Colorado Railroad would prove valuable.
