Primarily reminiscences of Mrs. Hewes' father, his friends and associates such as mine superintendent William Irwin and Nevada Senator William M. Stewart, and his business interests. Also included are memoirs of Clair's mother, Florence Evelyn Kingsley Waters Hofer, her family's overland journey to Placerville, California, Clair's childhood there and in Gold Hill, Nevada, and famous Nevada friends.

Abstract
This letter from Ginn to "Friend Keating" [R. P. Keating] on letterhead of the Daily and weekly Bodie standard newspaper describes a rich strike of gold ore at the Summit Mine in Bodie. Ginn confirms the strike and William Irwin's assessment of it (Irwin was superintendent of the Summit and the Standard, Bulwer, and Double Standard mines).
