Abstract

W. C. Bousfield was an agent for the Truckee Milk Company which was formed to furnish milk to Virginia City, Nevada. Collection contains letter of complaint from Bousfield in Virginia City to William Sharon about H. M. Yerington's attempts to encourage others to enter the milk-supplying business, February 21, 1873.

Abstract

Central Pacific Railroad was a railroad company which originated in Sacramento and ran east through Nevada. Contains form letters to William Sharon, H. M. Yerington, and Tritle informing them they could obtain a deed for patented land from the Land Agent of the Central Pacific Railroad, March 15, 1877. Also included are a tonnage ledger for lumber hauled, undated, and blank meteorological forms, 1870s.

The Eureka and Palisade Railroad Company was formed in 1873 to serve the mines in the Eureka Mining District in central Nevada. The collection consists of the records of the Eureka and Palisade Railroad Company, 1873-1902; the Eureka and Palisade Railway Company, 1901-1911; and the Eureka-Nevada Railway Company, 1912-1945. Collection includes articles of association, minutes of meetings, correspondence, legal documents, financial accounts, operational records, maps, and printed material.

Abstract Francis Griffith Newlands (1848-1917) was a businessman and served as a Nevada Representative from 1893-1902 and a Senator from 1902-1917. The collection contains many legal documents directly related to the acquisition of mills along the Carson River, including the Ogden Mill, Eureka Mill, and the Morgan Mill.y. Newlands, trustees of the estate of William Sharon, regarding the re-issuance of stock certificates lost in the fire following the San Francisco earthquake of 1906. Companies involved include the Virginia and Truckee Railroad, Inyo Development Company, Southern Development Company, and El Dorado Wood and Flume Company.
