Abstract

Francis Richmond Breen (1915-2002) was a lawyer based in Reno, Nevada. He was a trustee for the Max C. Fleischmann Foundation from 1960-1980 and assisted Velma Johnston (Wild Horse Annie) in establishing the Wild Horse Organized Assistance (WHOA) foundation in 1971. The collection contains Breen's files on the termination of the Max C. Fleischmann Foundation in 1980 as well as his files on the founding of WHOA.

Abstract

The first honorary degree was awarded in 1888, to Hannah K. Clapp. In the minutes of the Board of Regents, August 15, 1888, is recorded that "Upon Resolution it was ordered that the degree of M.A. be conferred upon Professor Hannah K. Clapp by the Board of Regents." This collection contains files on honorary degree and distinguished Nevada recipients, 1937-1969. The information includes brief biographical sketches of the recipients, correspondence, and photographs.

Sessions S. Wheeler Papers

Abstract

Sessions S. Wheeler served on the board of the Nevada State Museum. He received the Conservationist of the Year award, Outstanding Biology Teacher award, and the Distinguished Nevadan Award from the University of Nevada in 1963. The collection consists entirely of materials related to Wheeler's published writings: manuscripts in draft and edited formats, research notes and tapes, original papers and records of Max C. Fleischmann, photographs, and newspaper clippings.
