John Newton Evans was a director of the Bank of Nevada and Farmers' and Merchants Bank and president of the University of Nevada Board of Regents. Collection includes papers included correspondence from him and various family members, legal documents, financial papers and clippings about the Evans family, their home and Reno. Letter to Robert Lardin Fulton, a Nevadan engineer and water expert, from William H. Mills (1885) of the Central Pacific Railroad Company Land Department complaining that the State of Nevada was selling water and land more cheaply than the railroad. Joseph E. Stubbs, president of the University of Nevada, wrote Fulton (1913) praising Fulton's letter about Cleveland philanthropists, Reno, and Nevada; and reported on his wife's busy schedule.
