Sheppard, Yolande Jacobson, 1921-1998

Abstract

The Church Fine Arts Gallery's name was changed to the Yolande and Craig Sheppard Fine Arts Gallery and was referred to as the Sheppard Fine Arts Gallery. Located in the Church Fine Arts Complex, it is the site for exhibits of visiting professional artists. The name of the gallery was changed to the Sheppard Contemporary in the spring of 2013. The Sheppard Fine Arts Gallery Records consist of a letter, exhibit booklets and marketing material for exhibits.

Abstract Craig Sheppard (1913-1978) received his education at the University of Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, 1938, and a Bachelor in Sculpture, 1939. He was an instructor at the University of Oklahoma, 1939/40, then at Montana State College, Bozeman, 1942/42. Abstract

Sessions S. Wheeler served on the board of the Nevada State Museum. He received the Conservationist of the Year award, Outstanding Biology Teacher award, and the Distinguished Nevadan Award from the University of Nevada in 1963. The collection consists entirely of materials related to Wheeler's published writings: manuscripts in draft and edited formats, research notes and tapes, original papers and records of Max C. Fleischmann, photographs, and newspaper clippings.
