Mary Lee Fulkerson is an artist and author who is passionate about the culture, heritage, and landscape of the Great Basin. The collection contains background and publication materials on two of Fulkerson's books, Weavers of Tradition and Beauty: Basketmakers of the Great Basin (1995) and Women Artists of the Great Basin (2017) as well as her exhibit, Great Basin Points of View (2001).

The Great Basin Basketmakers is an all-volunteer non-profit group founded in 1987 whose goal is to foster an appreciation for the culture, tradition and beauty of the art form, and encourage and support serious basket/fiber art programs in Nevada. Northern Nevada at the Turn of the Millennium was a joint project between the Reno Gazette Journal and the Nevada Humanities Committee in 1999 to document life in northern Nevada at the turn of the 21st Century. Interviews collected were the background for a series of articles in the Reno Gazette Journal.
