John Quincy Adams was born in Illinois, and learned the bricklayer trade from his father. He moved to Utah with his family in 1850; and then relocated to Carson Valley, Nevada 1853. Together with his brother Rufus he ran farming and stock-raising businesses and kept a hotel. He manufactured the brick used in construction of U. S.
