Scope and Contents
Series 1 includes correspondence regarding work done for the Nevada Bureau of Mines and a lecture series/teaching work in which he participated from March 1931 to June 1933 before taking a position as a Nevada state engineer on July 1, 1933. After July 1, 1933, correspondence covers both his professional career and his personal life. In Folder 4, 1942, there are some financial records. Correspondence is incoming and outgoing. Note: Smith is sometimes referred to as "Tom" by some of the correspondents.
