"The Musical Adventures of Jack and Jill", 1930s
Scope and Contents
The Janet Martin Tranquada Collection on Camp Chonokis consists of documents collected by Tranquada from Gorman and are primarily related to Gorman's adaptation of Sigmund Spaeth's "The Musical Adventures of Jack and Jill" and "Old Mother Hubbard." Both of these were likely performed. "The Musical Adventures of Jack and Jill" includes published sheet music, some written or typed notes and lyrics, newspaper clippings about "Jack and Jill" from various sources, and Gorman's original musical notations and lyrics for the work.
Also included are sheet music of lullabies, two in Russian and one likely in Latvian, which were collected by Gorman during her travels and possibly adapted for use at Camp Chonokis.
