Scope and Contents

These three volumes (of the original 4 volumes) depict the Scott's prospecting journey through southern Nevada, Death Valley, eastern California/western Nevada along the Walker River, and through Bridgeport over Sonora Pass. Scott describes people encountered, towns in which they spent time, especially Las Vegas, Aurora, and Bridgeport, mining and road conditions, incidents of travel, and stories of local sites. Pasted on the verso of each page of text are photographs, maps, advertisements for mining equipment and supplies, labels from food cans and packages, railroad schedules, and newspaper clippings.
