These records were created by Ms. Lewis in her years as a city council member. They include correspondence from Ms. Lewis to other municipalities around the country to aid in her decision-making and this is reflected in the collection. Included are newspaper clippings, inter-office memos, reports and correspondence, plus Ms. Lewis' own notes on the different subjects.

Biographical Note

Pat Hardy Lewis was born in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Grinnell College in Iowa and received her B.A. in Social Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno. She also holds a masters degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in Counseling and Guidance, and a E.D.S. in Marriage and Family Counseling.

She was elected the the Reno City Council in 1973 and served until 1977. While a City Councilmen Ms. Lewis was most interested in planning and the use of land for Reno's future. She was a strong proponent of involving citizens in the decision process through the use of ad hoc committees. She is currently a counselor at the University of Nevada, Reno.
