Biographical Note

Physician. Arrived in Carson City, Nevada Territory, 1862 via overland route from Beloit, Wisconsin. Nevada's first botanist; Superintendent of Schools for Ormsby County; Nevada Surgeon General; recording secretary for the Nevada Historical and Scientific Society; helped establish a circulating library.
