Biographical Note
Henry Rust Mighels was editor of the Carson City (Nevada) Appeal and speaker of the Nevada State Assembly (1877). Son Philip V. Mighels was a Nevada author and editor of the New York Journal; son Harry was an author, poet, and book reviewer; son Roy R. Mighels was also an author. Samuel P. Davis married Henry Rust Mighels' widow and was subsequently owner and editor of the Appeal.
