Biographical Note
Anna Craighead Frey was a Nevada schoolteacher from the Carson Valley, Nevada, region. In 1893, she married butcher Walter Frey and moved first to Placerville, California, and then returned to the Reno region. According to a 1944 Nevada State Journal article commemorating the Frey's golden wedding anniversary, Anna and her parents moved to Nevada from Missouri in 1888, when she was 18 years old. She attended and graduated from the Carson City Normal School. After returning to Reno, Anna Frey was an active member of a variety of social clubs, including the Gardnerville Women's Literary Club.
