Auction Catalog Description: Virginia City, NV, Storey County Adolph Sutro letters 1874-1877. Lot of 4 items related to Comstock giant Adolph Sutro. 1) A business card, with an address of Sutro Tunnel, Nevada printed on the piece. 2) A blank Sutro note card with logo on reverse and illustration of two California Sea Lions on obverse. 3) Letter on Sutro stationary, addressed from the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C. to Massachusetts Senator Nathaniel Banks, dated 7 [illegible] 1874. banks was a former Civil War general and was instrumental in the purchase of Alaska, while senator, a former governor of Massachusetts and was designated by President Lincoln to help with the Reconstruction plan in Louisiana. 4) Another letter from Sutro to Banks, dated 23 November 1877, which is evidence that Sutro and Banks had a long friendship
