Historical Note

The Nevada LGBT Archive began in December 2015 as a non-profit statewide repository of artifacts and ephemera pertaining to the LGBT population in Nevada. The organization was founded by John Jeffrey Auer IV, President and Executive Director, and Nicholas-Martin Kearney, Deputy Director. In June 2018, Auer and Kearney closed the archives permanently, and much of the holdings were donated to UNR Special Collections.

Abstract

The Nevada LGBT Archive began in December 2015 as a non-profit and as a statewide repository of artifacts and ephemera pertaining to the LGBT population in Nevada. Collection highlights northern Nevada resources available to LGBT community and the events held by/for them, and events held for the LGBT community in Nevada. Collection materials include brochures, posters, newspaper articles, and banners created between 1965 and 2018.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Donated by John Jeffery Auer, IV in April 2018 on behalf of the Nevada LGBT Archive. Additional materials received in August 2022.

Related Materials

Records relating to the LGBT video magazine and television network Network Q, of which we have several VHS tapes in the collection, are located at Emory University.
