Biographical Note

Henry N. Morse came to California in 1849 and served as sheriff of Alameda County from 1863-1877. In 1878, he opened the Harry N. Morse Detective Agency; he later was instrumental in helping capture Black Bart. Morse was an early investor in the Gold Park Mining District in Nevada and ran the district from 1896-1912.
