Scope and Contents
The Hello Hollywood, Hello! Musical Scores contains scores and sheet music from Donn Arden's "Hello Hollywood, Hello!" show performed at the MGM Grand Hotel in Reno, Nevada from 1978-1989 annotated by Wally Post during his time as conductor. Conductors scores for the following acts/scenes are included: Opening, Astaire, San Francisco, Space, Jover, Circus, and Finale. Additionally, some keyboard sheet music is also included. Some of the music is fragile, with pages separated or torn. All but Astaire acts/scenes included in the collection contains both partial and full sets of the scores with musician annotations, cuts, and notes. Astaire contains only partial scores. A few photographs of the band, mostly without identifications, as well as two programs from 1980 and 1985, are located after the sheet music for the show.
Also included in the collection is music to Kitty Kover, a Coors Convention held in 1983, and house dance music. This sheet music and scores are separate from "Hello Hollywood, Hello" and not part of that performance.

Hello Hollywood, Hello! was a stage spectacular created by Donn Arden. It debuted on the MGM Grand Stage in Reno, Nevada in June 1978 to critical acclaim. The show ran continuously until April 1989, employing over 100 dancers and a host of musicians for a total of 6,941 performances. The show was billed as "The Biggest Show in the World on the Biggest Stage in the World in the Biggest Little City in the World."
Wally Post acted as the band leader for the show from 1978-1987. He was born in New York on July 7, 1936 and raised in Valley Stream, Long Island. In 1954, Post graduated from Central High School. A few years later, in 1961, after a stint playing with the U.S. Navy Band, he began playing with a number of entertainers, including Les Elgart, Sammy Kaye, and Guy Lombardo. In 1971, he relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, landing his first job at the Sahara Hotel. He also worked at the Stardust Hotel playing lead trombone in "Lido de Paris." After retiring from the MGM Grand, Post continued to play on the Mississippi Queen as the band leader among other bands. Post died in December 2017.
