Overview
Soroptimist International Carson City is a Carson City, Nevada-based service organization. The collection includes correspondence, programs, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, photographs, and a book published by the organization, "The Past Lies Here: A Comment Concerning the Women of Carson City and Nevada."
Historical Note
Soroptimist International of Carson City (SICC) began June 8, 1957, first president Audrey Bell Vincent presiding. The Club's mission is to promote awareness, advocacy, and action through volunteer service in the Carson City, Nevada community and to society worldwide by advancing human rights and focusing on the status of women and children.
Through fundraisers and scholarship endowments, the club donates thousands of dollars annually to improve the lives of women and girls in its community. The Club supports these efforts through grants, scholarships, mammogram program, community service, and various special projects.
