Scope and Contents
The Roscoe Ivor McGuire Photograph Collection contains photographs documenting McGuire's childhood and family in Seven Troughs, Nevada as well as time spent in Lovelock, Nevada. Photographs are primarily photo postcards, some of which contain postmarks and correspondence. In addition to the photographs, a short biographical note written by McGuire's friend, Kathleen Rubin, is included as well as two short wedding announcements stictched onto a blue ribbon. The collection documents McGuire's gender expression as a girl and woman, as McGuire was assigned male at birth.

Biographical / Historical
Roscoe "Ivor" William McGuire was born on November 19, 1907 to Bonnie Aloise Moore and Roscoe Andrew McGuire in Seven Troughs, Pershing County, Nevada and was assigned male at birth. "Ivor", also known as "Mac" later in life, grew up in Seven Toughs where mother was a telegrapher who worked for the railroad and father either tended or owned a bar. By 1918, McGuire was living in Sacramento and, by 1920, in Santa Barbara, California. Eventually McGuire moved to Los Angeles and was active in the Mattachine Society in the 1950s.
Towards the end of life, McGuire participated in the 90+ Study based out of the University of California, Irvine. This was a study on aging of which McGuire was proud to be a part of.
McGuire died in Fullerton, California on July 23, 2007.
