Biographical / Historical

William "Bill" Gatewood Parsons was born on June 28, 1923, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Raised in Idaho, Parsons enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1941-1948 on the USS Thresher 200. After the War, Parsons attended Utah State University, graduating with his Bachelors's and Masters's degrees in wildlife biology.

Parsons began work with the Nevada Fish and Game in 1952. He spent fifteen years in Ely as a District Agent and Supervisor before moving to Reno where he was the Chief of Law Enforcement and Boating Safety for the State of Nevada Fish and Game. He retired in 1984.

Bill Parsons passed away in Sparks, Nevada on July 23, 2020.
