Scope and Contents

The Henry F. Bennett Papers collection contains the personal and professional records of Henry F. Bennett, a realtor active in Northern Nevada and the surrounding areas. Series 1 contains personal papers on people such as, Henry Bennett, Elaine Bennett, and Wilbur D. May. The papers include letters, bank notes, a marriage certificate, and newspaper clippings. Series 2 covers Bennett’s professional career as a realtor, containing records regarding his property dealings. This includes properties belonging to Paul A. Walters, and the University Of Nevada, Reno in addition to properties such as The Riverside Hotel, The Golden Doors motel, as well as the Overland Hotel and Casino, among others.

Biographical Note

Henry F. Bennett (1919-1992) was a Realtor active in the Northern Nevada region as well as surrounding states. Married to Elaine Bennett, he was the realtor for many iconic Nevada properties, this includes The Riverside Hotel and property owned by The University of Nevada-Reno. He was also in close contact with Wilbur D. May, a well-known figure in Reno’s history.
