Flood and Hayes Papers

Flood and Hayes was a vaudeville company whose principal members were J.W. Flood and May Belle Hayes. Flood was a vaudeville and circus acrobat; his wife May Belle Hayes was a singer, dancer, and acrobat who teamed with Flood in his road shows across the United States. From 1904-1915 they frequently performed in Nevada and after settling permanently in Fallon, Nevada, ran a small theater business. In 1921 Flood built the first theater in Fallon, the Rex Theater; he was also active in trying to build the Fallon Community Hotel. Included in this collection are a datebook listing dates, towns, and theaters where the Flood and Hayes Vaudeville Company performed; advertisement for stock in the Fallon Amusement Corporation and the Fallon Community Hotel Company; playbills featuring Flood and Hayes; theater programs; sheet music for the song Reed bird, the Indian's bride; and photographs of Flood, Hayes, and other performers. Dates range from 1904-1924.
