Included are the family memoirs by Gottschalk and her mother, Jennie Riordan, about the women in their family, especially Jeannette (Jennie) O'Hare Riordan and Margaret McNally O'Hare. Riordan recounts her adventures as a school teacher in eastern Nevada in the 1890s and in the Cambridge School District on the East Walker River in western Nevada. Also included are newspaper clippings about Jennie and James Riordan and Gertrude's husband, George Gottschalk.
