Administrative History

The Nevada Federation of Republican Women is a branch of the national organization which provides a means through which women who share the principles of the Republican Party can join its activities and work toward common goals. It assists in political education, cooperates with the national party in electing Republican candidates at all levels, encourages the recruitment of Republican women candidates, and encourages the formation of teen clubs. The Nevada Federation also works to foster loyalty to the Republican Party and supports the objectives and policies of the National Federation of Republican women.

In Nevada, local chapters were formed in a number of locations. To form a chapter, a club must have ten members in good standing and hold five or more regular meetings a year. An individual can join any number of clubs but have voting privileges in only one club. According to a 1985 newsletter of the Paradise Valley Republican Women's Club Federated, there were eighteen clubs in Nevada with 1,450 members. Chapters existed in Boulder City, Carson City, Douglas County, Henderson, Incline Village/Crystal Bay, Fallon (Lahontan Chapter), Lake Tahoe-Nevada, Las Vegas, Lyon County, Ormsby County, Pahrump Valley, Paradise Valley, Reno, and Sparks. Notes in newsletters of several clubs indicates that some chapters struggled to maintain their charters and that the fortunes of individual chapters rose and fell with the strength of the Republican Party in the state and in the nation.
