Materials were formerly known as the Special Collections Vertical file, and contains booklets, broadsides, brochures, newsletters, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, postcards, reports and other resources that have been gathered through the years about a variety of organizations, people, places and topics relevant to the history and resources of Nevada and the Great Basin Region. There is a wide variation in the dates and kinds of information and resources available for each topic.

Of particular interest are commercially produced broadsides created through the years to support tourism in Nevada and to commemorate historic events. Topics whose folders include broadsides are indicated with a superscripted ^b.
