Administrative History

The Mexican Gold and Silver Mining Company was part of the North End Mines of the Comstock Lode. The initial claim of 100 feet was staked in 1859 and later consolidated with the Ophir Silver Mine to reach 600 feet in length. Between the years 1887 and 1891, joint drifts were worked with the Union Company; from 1900 to 1904 work was carried out jointly with the Sierra Nevada Mine; and in 1912 the owners took over the Keyes and Monte Cristie Mines.
