The California-Nevada Interstate Compact Commission was established in 1955 by each legislature in the states of California and Nevada. The purpose was to cooperate as a joint commission in formulating a compact relative to the distribution and use of the waters of Lake Tahoe and the Truckee, Carson, and Walker Rivers.
