Board of Regents Records
Scope and Contents
The Board of Regents Records consist of agendas, minutes and accompanying materials submitted during board meetings and used by the secretary of the Board to prepare the final minutes. Accompanying material includes: architectural drawings; award recommendations, bids, budget reports, committee reports, correspondence, faculty promotion recommendations, gift and grant reports, lists of graduation candidates, marketing material, Nevada Board of Regents newsletter (scattered issues); Nevada Higher Education Commission reports, personnel recommendations, press releases; proposals, publications, reference materials, resolutions by the Board, and UNS Foundation reports. Budget reports include: annual financial statements, Business Center reports; Estimative Budgets, and Desert Research Institute Financial Reports. The collection includes some records pre-dating the organization of the University of Nevada System in 1968.

Administrative History
The Board of Regents was established by the Nevada State Constitution in 1864, and the first Board was created in 1865. The Board is responsible for the governance of the institutions comprising the Nevada System of Higher Education. The original name of the organization was the University of Nevada System, which was established in 1968. It became the University and Community College System of Nevada (UCCSN) in December 1991. The Board of Regents voted to change the system's name in February 2004. Subsequently, through Assembly Bill No. 527, which was adopted by the Nevada legislature and signed by the Governor on May 18, 2005, its name became the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). The Board meets regularly and has additional committee meetings. All regular and committee meetings are open to the public.

Abstract
The Board of Regents was established by the Nevada State Constitution in 1864, and the first Board was created in 1865. The Board is responsible for the governance of the institutions comprising the University of Nevada System, which was organized in 1968. The Board changed the System’s name to the University and Community College System of Nevada in December 1991. In 2005, the System’s name became the Nevada System of Higher Education. Typically, the board holds six regular meetings each year in addition to committee meetings. All regular and committee meetings are open to the public. Agendas, minutes and accompanying materials submitted during board meetings and used by the secretary of the Board to prepare the final minutes.
