Abstract

The records contain committee minutes and general correspondence, affirmative action plans and policies, and records of the Disabled Persons Subcommittee.

Historical Sketch

The Committee on Equal Opportunity, also known as the Equal Opportunity Board, was the 1975 merger of the Human Relations Commission, the Commission on the Status of Women, and the Affirmative Action Compliance Committee. The goal was to study and propose policies to ensure equitable treatment of all members of the University of Nevada community and to consult with the Affirmative Action Officer and President of the University.

The records, documenting primarily 1976-1977, cover the chairmanship of John P. Marschall, who served as chair after the resignation of Mary Ellen Glass, in March 1976. The Affirmative Action Officer during this period was Harry Wolf, and university president was Max Milam.

Arrangement

The records are arranged in chronological order.
