Historical Note

The Committee on Equal Opportunity, also known as the Equal Opportunity Board, was the 1975 merger of the Human Relations Commission, the Commission on the Status of Women, and the Affirmative Action Compliance Committee. The goal was to study and propose policies to ensure equitable treatment of all members of the University of Nevada community and to consult with the Affirmative Action Officer and President of the University. Mary Ellen Glass served as chair until her resignation in March 1976, and was succeeded by John P. Marschall. During this time the Affirmative Action Officer was Harry Wolf and the University president was Max Milam.
