Administrative History
The Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) was established in the fall of 1896. As the undergraduate student body government, it has several areas of responsibilities, including providing a large number of student services, events, and campus leadership. Any student organization which wishes to establish an activities program or use on-campus facilities must petition ASUN, have a faculty or staff advisor, and maintain membership standards consistent with the aims of the university.
Since 1933, the ASUN Senate has represented the students of the University of Nevada through a number of events, legislation and active community engagement. Many ASUN-sponsored events take place in the Joe Crowley Student Union, which opened in 2007 and houses the ASUN offices. The ASUN has published a variety of resources through the years, including student handbooks, the Artemisia yearbook, and the literary magazine Brushfire.
