Scope and Contents

The Office of the Vice President for University Advancement Records document the development of the Special Events Center (Lawlor Events Center); the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation, which is charged with the coordination, cultivation, solicitation, and processing of gifts donated to the university; the Fire Protection Training Academy; the Continuing Education and Judicial Education Center; and a 1979 report on the proposed policy interpretation implementing Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972.

Administrative History

In 1988, the University Services department and Public Affairs and University Advancement department merged into the Office of the Vice President for University Advancement. University Development coordinates the alumni relations, fund-raising, and public information efforts of the university.

Richard T. Dankworth served as Director of Extended Programs and Continuing Education, 1976-1978; Vice President for University Services, 1978-1980; Vice President for Public Affairs, 1980-1984; and Vice President for University Advancement, 1984-1986, to coordinate the fundraising and public information efforts of the university.
