Administrative History
The Nevada Repertory Company, a resident company of actors and technicians, was formed in 1973 by the University Theatre, in association with ASUN. At that time, the University Theatre was under the auspices of the Department of Speech and Drama in the University’s College of Arts and Science. The department became the Department of Speech and Theatre in the fall of 1974. Reorganization efforts at the University resulted in the establishment of the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Science, which replaced the College of Arts and Science in 2004. The School of the Arts is a component of the College of Liberal Arts. In July 2010, the School of the Arts formed the Department of Theatre and Dance and the Department of Music. The Nevada Repertory Company is the play-producing organization of the Department of Theatre and Dance.
