In addition, the collection includes copies of journals written subsequent, detailing his experiences as a war correspondent and foreign correspondent, 1938-1960.

Biograpphical Note

Robert C. Miller entered the University of Nevada in January 1935. At the same time, he began keeping a diary, reoording his personal observations and comments on students, student life, instructors, and Reno. A resident of Lincoln Hall, he was active in track, theater, several clubs, and wrote for the student newspaper, the Sagebrush. Graduating in 1938, Miller went to work for United Press International and remained with them as a foreign correspondent for 46 years. In his career he covered World War II, including the Guadalcanal campaign and the invasion of Europe on the Normandy beaches, and the Nuremberg trials. Later, as chief of the South Pacific bureau of the United Press, he covered the Middle and Far East, Asia, and Europe at various times.

Mr. Miller loaned the original diaries written during his university years to the Archives for copying, and these have been transcribed; he also provided copies of subsequent years detailing these experiences as well.
