Administrative History

The University maintains several governmental relations programs as one component of it public relations efforts. These programs involve state and national legislative bodies and are assisted by community-based groups. Activities are designed to support the legislative efforts of the president and the Board of Regents to enhance support and funding for instruction and research.

Beginning in 1981, it was a community based volunteer program known as the Legislative Relations Steering Committee. In 1985, it became the Office of Governmental Relations expanding to include federal government relations, as well as state.
