Administrative History

The Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) was established in the fall of 1896. As the undergraduate student body organization it has several areas of responsibilities, including student organization recognition. Any student organization which wishes to establish an activities program or use on-campus facilities must petition ASUN, have a faculty or staff advisor, and membership must be consistent with the aims of the university. The ASUN began publishing a yearbook for the University, the Artemisia, in 1898. No yearbooks were published in 1895-1897, 1906-1907, 1909-1912, 1915-1916, or in 2000. All copies of the 1906 Artemisia were destroyed by fire at the printer's in San Francisco following the massive earthquake. The last traditional yearbook was published in 2004. Afterwards, ASUN began publishing a periodical that was also called the Artemisia. In 2008, the Artemisia periodical became Insight Magazine.
