Records of the President of the University of Nevada, Reno, Marc A. Johnson
Scope and Contents
The collection contains materials created and collected during the tenure of Marc A. Johnson, 16th president of the University of Nevada, Reno (2012-2020), and document the president's activities regarding campus events, academic departments and programs, committees, and buildings. Collection also contains materials from and commemorating Johnson's inauguration on September 28, 2012, including his address, DVD of the ceremony, photographs, and congratulatory letters and certificates.
Additionally, the collection includes materials regarding a number of events, both annual and special, such as football tailgate parties, groundbreakings and building openings, and President's Arts Dinners. There are also copies of speeches given by President Johnson at these events (commencement, State of the University, etc.).
Although President Johnson was not inaugurated until 2012, there are materials that go back to 2008 in this collection that are from the tenure of Milton Glick. The decision was made to keep this small amount of material in this collection rather than transferring it to Milt Glick's papers because it pertains to programs or buildings that were completed after Johnson became president. Without the earlier papers, the context for the later papers would be lost.
