Historical Note
The Jot Travis Student Union Building, situated on the edge of Manzanita Lake on the University of Nevada campus, had its cornerstone ceremony on May 18, 1958. It was named after Ezra Johnson (Jot) Travis, a Western pioneer and American Civil War veteran who was involved in horse-drawn stage transportation and horse breeding. The Jot Travis Student Union held ASUN offices, the ASUN Bookstore, recreational facilities, and various food services. It underwent an expansion in 1988 that doubled its size. When the Joe Crowley Student Union opened, the Jot Travis Building became the site for the Art Department's Black Rock Press and the Davidson Institute for Talent Development.
