The University of Nevada Centennial Records include correspondence, planning material, marketing material, a proclamation by Governor Mike O'Callahan, programs for and an audio recording of the joint convocation and inauguration of President Max Milam, along with a special edition of the Reno State Journal-Reno Evening Gazette.

Administrative History
The University of Nevada, Reno, has conducted two centennial celebrations. In 1874, the University Preparatory School opened in Elko, Nevada. In 1885, the State Legislature voted to move the university to Reno. Construction of its first building, Morrill Hall, began on September 12, 1885. A centennial celebration for the University was conducted in 1974, in conjunction with the inauguration of Max Milam as University President. On September 12, 1985, the University observed the centennial of its Reno campus.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The audio tape of the inauguration/convocation was transferred to Archives from the University's Audio-Visual Communication Center in June 1975. The frisbee was transferred to Archives from the Office of the President in 2013.
