Scope and Contents
The Records of the Interim President Stephen McFarlane include bylaws for the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, a commencement speech, correspondence, Alumni Association Council records, Faculty Senate election material, minutes of the Intercollegiate Athletics Board, National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges material, Nevada Faculty Alliance material, Nevada State College accreditation correspondence, planning material for a new campus library, reports, material about Thunderbird Lodge at Lake Tahoe, and a proposal for a School of Pharmacy. Among the reports are enrollment reports, a RAND Report, the UCCSN Biennial Budget Request, and the UCCSN Planning Report for 2001-2005.

Folders labeled "Restricted" are unavailable for general access until January 2024. Permission to view them before that time must be obtained in writing from the UNR Office of the President.

Biographical Note
Dr. Stephen C. McFarlane was named a Foundation Professor of Speech Pathology and Audiology in the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 1995. He served as interim President of the University of Nevada, Reno, from the time of President Joseph Crowley's retirement in 2000 through June 2001. In July 2001, he became Chair of the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology and Vice Dean of the School of Medicine. In October 2001, he became Interim Dean of the School of Medicine, serving until 2004. Dr. McFarlane has written extensively in the field and his books have been translated into many languages for use as textbooks around the world.

Abstract
Dr. Stephen C. McFarlane served as interim President of the University of Nevada, Reno from the time of President Joseph Crowley's retirement in 2000 through June 2001. The collection includes records created during the teunure of Interim President McFarlane.
