The records include architectural drawings, audio recordings of early faculty and students, biographical information about Mr. and Mrs. Orvis, by-laws, ceremony programs, correspondence, a guest register for School events, information about the history of the School and activities of its Alumni Association chapter, marketing material, meeting minutes, publications, scrapbooks, self-evaluation reports, and working agreements with hospitals.

Historical Note
Founded in 1956, the Orvis School of Nursing (OSN), at the University of Nevada, is the oldest school of nursing in the state and is dedicated to serving people of Nevada through quality teaching, research, and service.
The mission of the Orvis School of Nursing is to prepare individuals for both entry-level and advanced nursing roles by providing excellent academic programs integrating recognized educational standards. The curriculum emphasizes nursing care of individuals, families, and populations throughout the lifespan; among diverse cultures and beliefs; and across all socioeconomic groups in the context of their environments by providing a strong foundation for evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and leadership. As an essential part of its mission as a land grant institution, Orvis School of Nursing provides service to the state of Nevada and to the professional community at large.

Orvis, by-laws, ceremony programs, correspondence, a guest register for School events, information about the history of the School and activities of its Alumni Association chapter, marketing material, meeting minutes, publications, scrapbooks, self-evaluation reports, and working agreements with hospitals. Founded in 1956, the Orvis School of Nursing (OSN), at the University of Nevada, is the oldest school of nursing in the state and is dedicated to serving people of Nevada through quality teaching, research, and service.

Arrangement
The records are arranged in four series: 1) History of the Orvis School of Nursing; 2) Administrative Records; 3) Publications; 4) Photographs; 5) Nevada Nurses Association Conference Exhibit.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The issue of SOAP newsletter was transferred from the Life and Health Sciences Library. Periodic transfers from the Orvis School of Nursing, including June 2016. OSN transferred U.S. Congressional material in 2017.
Duplicate copies of the Nevada State Student Nurses Handbook (1959) were transferred from NUB 58/49 in February 2017.
Convocation programs, academic marketing brochures transferred from University Events office in various years.
Processing Information
The new call number, AC 0649, was established in June 2016 for all of the 'temporary' NUB 31 sets of records for the Orvis School of Nursing, along with unprocessed records.
