Scope and Contents
The Records of the President of the University of Nevada, Reno, Milton D. Glick, include bylaws, capital improvement studies, correspondence, data about academic units, architectural drawings, enrollment data, Fire Science Academy material, Nevada State Legislature reports, Nevada System of Higher Education budget reports, UNR planning reports, newspaper clippings, transcripts of speeches, and Yucca Mountain Project reports. Among the reports is "Shaping Nevada's Future: What the State Can Do to Invest in College Access and Success," by Nirjan Rai, under the auspices of the Institute for Higher Education Policy. The research study "IT Collaboration: Multi-Institutional Partnerships to Develop, Manage, and Operate IT Resources" by Philip J. Goldstein of ECAR is also included. Personal material includes a parody of the song "Camelot" by his staff at Arizona State University upon his departure to become President at UNR. The records also include from his memorial service and a video DVD of the 2013 unveiling of Dr. Glick's portrait and the dedication of a ballroom in his honor in the Joe Crowley Student Union.

Folders labeled "Restricted" are unavailable for general access until January 2024. Permission to view them before that time must be obtained in writing from the UNR Office of the President.

Biographical Note
Dr. Milton D. Glick was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on July 30, 1937. He obtained his doctorate degree in chemistry at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and married Peggy Porter in 1965. Dr. Glick joined the chemistry faculty at Wayne State University in Detroit, where he eventually became Chair of the Department of Chemistry and published 99 research articles. He served as dean of the College of Arts and Science at the University of Missouri in Columbia from 1983-88. He then served as provost and interim president at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, before serving for 15 years as executive vice president and provost at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Glick was appointed the 15th President of the University of Nevada, Reno, in May 2006 and took office in August 2006. During his 5-year tenure at UNR, Dr. Glick's accomplishments included record-setting enrollments, freshman retention rates, and graduations. He died in Reno on April 16, 2011. He was honored posthumously with the unveiling of his portrait and the dedication of a Joe Crowley Student Union ballroom in his name on May 14, 2013.
