Scope and Contents

The Wolf Pack Mascot Art and Logos Collections consists of original drawings, offset printing negatives, prints, and other resources used by campus artists and printing services staff to prepare images of Wolfie and wolves for various athletics, campus events, and other marketing efforts. Some drawings were used for the Wolves Frolics program held during Homecoming in the early 20th century. Two contemporary Alphie mascot cards are included.

Administrative History

The Wolf Pack's first mascot was an anthropomorphized wolf named Wolfie, who retired in 1999. His nephew, Alphie, took over the duties of cheering in 1999. In 2007, Alphie was joined by his younger brother, Wolfie Jr. In 2011, Wolfie Jr. was named the Capital One Mascot of the Year in the tenth annual challenge, winning $20,000 for the University's mascot program. Luna was introduced in 2013 as the sister to Wolfie Jr. and Alphie, following an ASUN naming contest.
