Administrative History
The University of Nevada School of Medicine was founded in 1969 by the Nevada State Legislature as the first medical school in the state. Its Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences offers a psychiatric residency training program that teaches future psychiatrists to integrate biomedical and psychosocial approaches into patient care.
