Biographical Note

Carmelina Leone (Bergeret) Grundel '45 (dietetics) and Edward Grundel, Jr. '43 (mining engineering) were married in 1943, during World War II. They met as undergraduates at the University of Nevada. Carmen graduated with the highest grade-point average of her graduating class and was awarded the Herz Gold Medal. They both went on to become teachers, and since education was a priority in their lives, they funded scholarship trusts for Nevada students through the Carmelina B. Grundel Scholarship Endowment and the Edward L. Grundel, Jr. Scholarship Endowment.
