Scope and Contents
The College of Liberal Arts Records contains materials from the College of Liberal Arts Dean's office, marketing and media coverage material, including announcements for speaker's series and student-related activities, and minutes, meetings, and agendas from the Courses and Curriculum Committee. The Courses and Curriculum Committee records included here are directly related to the College of Liberal Arts and is separate from the University Courses and Curricula Committee under the Office of the Provost.

Administrative History
The College of Liberal Arts was founded in July 2004 after the University reorganized the former College of Arts and Science into the College of Science and the College of Liberal Arts. Administratively, the College of Liberal Arts encompasses the disciplines of the humanities and social sciences, as well as the School of the Arts and the School of Social Research and Justice Studies. It is the largest college within the University of Nevada, Reno. It plays a key role in the education of all undergraduate students and provides over 20 majors for undergraduates and an equal number of degree paths for graduate students.
As of 2017, the College of Liberal Arts includes the following departments: Anthropology; Art; Communication Studies; Criminal Justice; English; Gender, Race, and Identity; History; Medieval and Renaissance Studies; Military Science; Music; Philosophy; Psychology; Sociology; Theatre and Dance; and World Languages and Literatures. In addition to these departments, the following schools, centers, and programs are also included under the umbrella of the College of Liberal Arts: School of the Arts; School of Social Research and Justice Studies; Center for Basque Studies; Core Humanities Program; Grant Sawyer Center for Justice Studies; Judicial Studies Degree; and the Latino Research Center.

Abstract
