The University of Nevada, Reno Extended Studies Records consists of course and program catalogs, marketing material for fall, spring, summer and winter classes, Independent Learning catalogs, information about certification and special courses, and a promotional videotape for televised distance education in Nevada.

Administrative History
Extended Studies functions as the academic outreach arm of the University, providing university-level, lifelong educational opportunities for Nevadans. Live distance education courses are offered for remote students to enable them to earn college credit or for professional development. The Program for Adult College Education (PACE) offers a way for undergraduate students to earn a degree by taking evening and weekend classes. Extended Studies administers courses required for certification of librarians in Nevada public and school libraries.
In January 2007, Extended Studies launched the three-week Wintermester, offering condensed courses for academic credit during the break between fall and spring semesters. Extended Studies is the administrative home of: Continuing and Distance Education, Summer Session, Evening Studies and Degree Programs, the Redfield Campus, the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center, the Nevada Humanities Committee, and the ElderCollege, which became the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Nevada, Reno. Extended Studies also served as the administrative home for the Fire Science Academy at the Carlin, Nevada campus, which closed on December 31, 2011 and currently serves as the administrative home for 365 Learning.
