Scope and Contents
Social media and digital press releases regarding the Argenta Hall boiler and gas explosions that took place at approximately 1pm on Friday, July 5, 2019. Documentation sources include Twitter, UNR's website, NSHE website, KUNR (Reno NPR affiliate), and KNPR (Las Vegas NPR affiliate). Collection also contains digital images, e-clippings, and compiled lists of digital articles and TV clips relating to the event.

Historical Note
The Argenta Hall Explosion occurred on July 5th, 2019. The cause of the event stemmed from an mechanical failure of one of the building's boilers, caused an explosion which severed a 3-inch gas line. The release of gas then resulted in a larger explosion, leaving considerable damage to Argenta and neighboring Nye Halls. The event was widely reported in the news and talked about on social media platforms, such as Twitter.

Abstract
A blast occurred in Argenta Hall on July 5th 2019, damaging both Argenta and Nye Halls. The collection contains documentation of the event from Twitter, UNR and NSHE websites, KUNR (Reno NPR affiliate), and KNPR (Las Vegas NPR affiliate) as well as additional digital media compiled in the aftermath of the explosion.
